Christmas Tours in the Bryn Athyn Historic District

During the month of December 2018, tour availability and hours of operation may be altered during the season due to demand, weather, special events and additional church services. Some dates are not available. To avoid disappointment, reservations are required for guided tours during the month of December. Christmas Tours in the Bryn Athyn Historic District

Cairnwood Estate

Guided Christmas tours at 10:00 & 11:00 am, call for reservations. Closed on Mondays.

Self-guided tours Sunday, December 9 & 16, 2018: 12:00 – 4:00 pm, Wednesdays & Thursdays through December 20, 1:00 – 4:00 pm. 

The exhibition, Casual and Cultured; Three Generations of Day to Evening Attire is self-guided and open to the public Sunday, December 9 &16, 12:00 – 4:00 pm, Wednesdays & Thursdays 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Access to the decorated estate and exhibition is included with holiday tea and tour admission.

Cairnwood Holiday Tea and Tour: Sundays, December 9 & 16, 12:30 pm, and Wednesdays & Thursdays at 12:30 pm through December 20. Reservations and prepayment required, $50 per person, call for menu and reservations.

The Estate will be closed December 23, 24, 25 & 26. Cairnwood Christmas tours, and exhibition end Thursday, December 27.

Glencairn Museum

The 45-minute guided “Christmas in the Castle” tour is available weekdays at 1:00 & 2:30 pm, and weekends at 1:00, 1:30 and 2:30 pm. Reservations strongly recommended.

The World Nativities  exhibition is self-guided and open to the public daily from 12:00 – 4:30 pm. Access is also included with tour admission.

The Museum will be closed December 10, 24 and 25. The Museum will be open only for the Christmas Sing Concert on Tuesday, December 11.

Bryn Athyn Cathedral

Guided tours daily 1:00 –4:00 pm (45 minute tour)

2018 Christmas Events in the Bryn Athyn Historic District

Christmas Pageant at Bryn Athyn Cathedral
Sunday, December 9, 3:30, 5:15, 7:00 and 8:15 pm
Start your Christmas season celebrations with this depiction of the Christmas story, portrayed by actors in costume.  A favorite feature of this popular Pageant is the invitation for attendees to walk through a choir of singing shepherds and angels to visit the manger scene. 
Live animals on the grounds can be visited between the services. 

Christmas Sing Concert at Glencairn Museum
Tuesday, December 11, 8:00 pm (doors open at 7:15)
$15 per person | Free for Museum members. Reserved seating for Gold and Patron Museum members only. Advance tickets and reservations available until 12:00 pm on Monday, December 11, by calling 267.502.2990 or emailing Tickets will also be sold at the door on December 11, subject to availability.
Take part in a tradition as rich as it was eight decades ago, when Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn first welcomed family, friends and the local community into their home for the “Glencairn Sing.” This year's program will once again feature the “Glencairn Horns” (including current and former members of the Philadelphia Orchestra) interspersed with other ensemble performances, soloists, audience caroling, and readings from the Christmas story.

Explore historic Cairnwood at its most sparkling time of year. Kick off the holiday season with yuletide desserts and refreshments served in candlelight, festive Christmas trees and décor throughout, and a special exhibition, Three Generations of Cairnwood Fashions.

Christmas Choral Vespers at Bryn Athyn Cathedral
Sunday, December 16, 7:30 pm
Enjoy the Christmas portion of Handel's beloved oratorio, Messiah, in the tranquil setting of the Bryn Athyn Cathedral. This presentation features an orchestra with professional soloists, as well as the Bryn Athyn Festival Chorus and children’s choir, the Choristers.
